Can i fix YLOD by replacing ps3 motherboard?

I tried re-flow by using a heat gun (no flux used) about 4 times, and the fix was only temporary (few days). i want a permanent fix. I'm thinking of buying a motherboard with the same model no. as mine and replacing it. I would like to know if anyone has done this before and had any success. while doing my research i found that the motherboards may be coded to work with a specific blu ray drive. Can anybody confirm this to be true or not? Any help will be appreciated.
