I have a project idea using a simple fan..pls help?

I was thinking of putting tiny magnets on the centre rotating part of a fan and then a stationary coil around it to produce current from the flux..........later this energy is stored and used as backup power supply?.......can this b done....the rotation of the centre of the fan is almost useless we can use it in a better way to generate power.
